Read how Speakap helped Wurst Steel Construction close an existing communications gap to ensure that their employees have access to all the information they need with a centralized employee communications app.
The Challenge:
How to close the communication gap & ensure all employees have access to important information?
Communication consistency is a topic that Wurst Steel Construction is very concerned about. In particular, colleagues in production often feel that they are not sufficiently informed - not sufficiently involved.
Of all their internal communication challenges, the most important was to establish effective communication between the employees with PC workstations and the production employees to ensure that all relevant information was passed on transparently and understandably. Some information was lost or did not reach the production employees at all, resulting in an unequal distribution of information and a lack of participation. Their main goal was to close communication gaps in the workplace and allow all employees to stay informed.
The Solution:
A centralized employee communications platform called WUPP
To address the challenges above, Wurst Steel Construction chose Speakap, an employee communications platform. This allows them to create a digital channel to disseminate all important information promptly and uniformly to all colleagues – regardless of whether they are based in the Düsseldorf branch, on assembly, or working remotely.
Wurst Steel Construction Employee Portal (WUPP) offers various tools – editors can post directly to the timeline, and each employee has the opportunity to communicate their content in groups, chat with colleagues, and interact using comments and likes. They urge everyone to ask themselves the question: Are you still putting good old information on the bulletin board or are you already WUPPing? 😉
Here's the video they created to promote the employee communications app and create awareness within the organization:
The Results:
Strengthened communication and more engaged construction employees
The implementation of the WURST Steel Construction Employee Portal (WUPP) has resulted in significant improvements in communication and engagement among employees. No longer is there a loss of important information, as the platform ensures that all employees receive the same updates and announcements.
Communication among employees has been strengthened, allowing for better collaboration and understanding across different locations. Employees now have insights into the projects and activities at other sites, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose. Regular updates about ongoing projects and initiatives keep everyone informed about the company's progress and achievements.
Additionally, the inclusion of a birthday list has brought a personal touch, creating more opportunities for celebration and team bonding. The platform also provides a space for colleagues to ask questions about specific topics and give feedback, further enhancing the participatory culture. Through consistently implementing these goals, WURST Steel Construction aims to reinforce its status as one of the best employers, ensuring long-term employee retention and motivation.
For their one year app-versary , WURST Steel Construction shared the video below with the figures from the first year of operation of the employee app. 1 year of informing, communicating, WUPPING:
Did you know that WURST Steel Construction has already been voted “Leading Employer” TWICE?
Our goal is to foster an open and transparent communication culture where employees feel heard and supported. By consistently implementing these goals, we aim to strengthen our status as one of the best employers and ensure long-term employee retention and motivation.
